Samsung starts manufacturing LCD-based Galaxy Note 3 Lite

There were rumors that Samsung is looking at LCD screens to cut costs for the next Galaxy S and Note flagships, but maybe they were only partially correct. New information from Korean publication ETNews suggests Samsung is already making the Galaxy Note 3 Lite, which is the actual LCD-packing Note the earlier rumors were talking about.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite was reportedly developed as a mini, but those plans were dropped as the phablet will have a 5.68" LCD, matching the size of the premium device.
Apparently, Samsung will manufacture 500,000 Galaxy Note 3 Lites in January and then 1,500,000 in February with the intention of Lites eventually accounting for 30% of Galaxy Note sales.
This could have consequences though as it could hurt the premium image of the Galaxy Note brand that Samsung has worked so hard to build up (and spend so much cash in advertising).
Such rumors have a tendency to prove false in the end, so take it with a grain of salt. Samsung will reportedly unveil the Galaxy Note 3 Lite at the MWC, so we'll know for certain in a couple of months.
